Description
This mint condition complete set was purchased when it was released in 1984. A limited edition of just 5000 boxed sets were pressed.
Each of the 18 discs is in pristine condition, played only once on high-end equipment (SME tonearm, Shure V-15 IV cartridge) for purposes of transferring to cassette. Booklet (12"x12") contains color photos of each orginal album cover (Waltz for Debby, Portrait in Jazz, Explorations, etc.) and comprehensive descriptions of the various sessions, trios and groups that comprise the collection. Photography throughout. Booklet is in excellent shape, though the three pages containing track listings contains pencil checkmarks added by me as I recorded the discs.
The boxed collection of these rare LPs has been stored, unopened, for the past 20 years (until the accompanying photos were taken).
Jazz afficianados already know the value of this extraordinary collection in terms of what it contributed to the genre--and the influence it still carries in jazz today.
