The Big Beat of The Beatles – 1964 South Africa LP Parlophone PMCJ 64
This is a decent example of the LP – The Big Beat of The Beatles by The Beales. It was released in South Africa on the Parlophone label in 1964 – LK PMCJ 64. Visually – the record shows scuffing on both sides. Also – there is one scratch of note – on the last two tracks on the second side – I’ll Get You and Thank You Girl. I was a bit worried by how it looks but I have just played it through and was pleasantly surprised to hear that it plays really well. That scratch does mean some quiet ‘clicks’ but other than that the LP plays around VG+, although I will state the grade as VG. Just in case it matters, there is no matrix number stamped on the first-side run-out area. On the second side it has the matrix number XPEAX.168 – which is the one printed on the label.The laminated cover is in reasonable VG+ condition. It has a couple of light creases but no real problems. It. Is surprisingly clean on the back – not yellowing and it has no finger-marks or sticker-marks etc. I purchased a group of LPs from the original owner who was in the Royal Navy and was stationed in the country in the mid-1960s. He had an interesting mix of British, American and South African LPs (although many were not really of interest, musically).
