Description

  Record : 'Big Beat Vol 1' - (AHEM 1044) - 1969 Condition (Record/Cover): VG++/VG++

This should hopefully need no introduction to any library afficianado out there. Yep its the holy grail of library records. 'Exclusive Blend' kicks off the record with great horns, boppy organs and just a fantastic groove - but then it just steps up about 3 gears and organ lets rip. Totally kills me every time I hear it! 'Studio 69' is another fantastic organ thumper and is of course more widely known as the theme tune to the 'Dave Allen' show. 'Work Out' is quite a ruddy fast groover - Bloody great organ and leccy guitar work that would cause any dancefloor to sweat buckets. 'Rocky Mountain Roundabout' is another less obvious track - AND again the excellent organ and guitar work make it something special. 'Beat Me Till I'm Blue' is just one of the most incredible pieces of music your going to hear. Slow chugging organ work on this track that is just perfection and then the 'leccy guitars come in...Well I just lose the plot by this point - Genius!

'Senior Thump' is where this record just launches into the stratosphere again! More ORGANS - More crazy guitars - Killer Bass - and you have my all time fave library track. I could never get tired of listening to this! 'Tap Footer' reminds me of Joe 90 or something. Its very groooovey baby and very kitschy - The organ work and fuzzed out guitars just rock it - It also sounds like they wired the bass through the leslie cab and stuck in on '11'. I fug you not!

What can I say! Alan Hawkshaw just blows everyone out of the water with his organ grinding. Unbelieveable! This craps on the mohawks lp as it has more and it misses out 'champ' which is now officially the most annoying song ever! Buy this and buy then the Pepsi 45! You won't regret it.

Obviously this is a very rare pricey record so it has a modest reserve.

More specific grading - The record was pulled from dead stock and has only been played a few times. Some very fine hairlines and and obviously it plays beaut.
