Description

This is a complete set of albums from the early 1980’s. It was offered for sale by the Franklin Mint Record Society, and is titled “The Greatest Recordings of the Big Band Era”. It is made up of 100 albums, with 2 albums in each box, for a total of 50 boxes. Each box contains an 8-page booklet describing each of the bands that are represented in that 2-album box. There is also a 40 page “Cross Reference Index” booklet, which lists all the albums in number sequence, Featured Performers and which album they are on, and a list of all the selections and which albums they are featured on.

Probably the most interesting thing about this collection is the fact that THE ALBUMS WERE NEVER PLAYED! Not one of these records has ever laid on a turntable! It was my mother’s wish to collect all the albums, ane then tape them on cassette tapes. Unfortunately, she passed away before ever realizing her dream. (Ironically, the albums were offered on cassette tapes later on.)

I can’t find my mom’s original receipts for this collection, but even if the cost per box were $12.95 including shipping, they would have cost $647.50!

Because it would be expensive (and almost impossible) to ship this entire set, I am offering this for sale only if it can be picked up. Happy Bidding!
