ID no. 9007685 Title: Berlioz, Symphonie Fantastique 45 Test Pressing Set Artist: Munch/BSO Product Condition: SS Cover Condition: M Description: This auction is for a STILL SEALED 4-LP 45 Test Pressing set marked (A1, A2, B1, B2) of the Classic Records 180gram reissue of Berlioz's "Symphonie Fantastique" with jacket. These highly collectible test pressings are from the first stamper and less than 20 exist. Test pressings reflect the closest you can get to the lacquers and hence have a special collectible value and store of value. - This is the legendary 1954 performance of the Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique that was never issued as a Living Stereo. By the time that RCA started issuing stereo LP's in 1960, Munch was scheduled to rerecorded the piece and hence the issued instead of the 54' recording which many argue is the better performance. This is one of the early Jack Pfeiffer two track recordings which capture that sense of "being there" that is often elusive. Jacket in mint condition.
