Up for auction is a rare one-sided E. Berliner's Gramophone Record from the 1890s--
Berliner Gramophone 7" 78 rpm "Sidewalk of N.Y" Dan W. Quinn No. 959 EX
EX Condition. Beautiful player.

Condition:
I have listened to the record in full and the record plays fine with no skips or overbearing noise heard.
As with most Berliner's from the 1890s, this one shows small scratches, scuffing, handling and some groove wear.
There are some small indentations or what may be called 'dimples' in the grooves. Again, this is pretty common wear for these records.
The previous owner kept these Berliner discs in plastic sleeves and in a book with dividers which had been stored away from the elements for several decades.

German-American inventor Emile Berliner invented the first circular (non-cylinder) playing discs with recorded sound in the late 1880s. These fairly flat-edged black, circular platter-like discs are commonly known as records.
By late 1894 he had financing available for the E. Berliner's Gramophone Company, which produced the discs until 1899.
These historic recordings--- which are between 115 and 120 years old-- are considered extremely rare and collectible, with some being one-of-a-kind recordings due to the process in which they were recorded and duplicated.
