Beggars Opera was founded in Glasgow Scotland in 1969. Their name is derived from a novel by the poet John Gray in 1728.This their debut-album "Act one" contains fluent and tasteful organ driven progressive rock with powerful "Sixties" sounding guitarwork. The long track "Raymond's Road" is a splendid tribute to the "classics" featuring Mozart's Alla Turca, Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor Grieg's Peer Gynt Suite on the Hammond organ.
- Martin Griffiths - Lead vocals - Ricky Gardiner - Lead guitar, vocals - Alan Park - Organ, piano - Marshall Erksine - Bass - Raymond Wilson - Drums
