Description
Beethoven String Quartets played by the Busch Quartet, and originally recorded onto 78 rpm records between 1931 and 1937. The recordings were transcribed onto direct metal masters (DMM) by EMI and released in 1985 in this 5-LP box set. I bought this set new when I spotted it in a long-closed record shop, but they have languished on my shelves and have been virtually unplayed. These historic recordings are highly regarded by the cognoscenti, and the box edition seems to be quite rare. I have taken the precaution of deep cleaning them nevertheless, and I think that the set is sufficiently good to warrant a 'near mint' assessment.
The set features the following running order:
String Quartet no 1 in F
String Quartet no 12 in E flat
String Quartet no 11 in F minor
String Quartet no 14 in C sharp minor
String Quartet no 15 in A minor
String Quartet no 9 in C
String Quartet no 16 in F
Violin Sonata no 3 in E flat
Violin Sonata no 5 in F
Violin Sonata no 7 in C minor
The sonatas were played by Adolf Busch (violin) and Rudolf Serkin (piano).

I pack records very carefully, removing records from outer sleeves/boxes to prevent movement damage, and using plenty of good quality lightweight materials.
