Description

The contributions of George Martin as the Beatles musical director and producer of almost all of the Beatles’ recordings have influenced many to consider him as “the Fifth Beatle” (though others, like Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe, have also been given that designation, too). His contributions to many songs and his instrumental accompaniments to LPs are beyond measure and too numerous to list here. Martin’s extensive musical training and sophisticated guidance in the studio are often credited as fundamental contributions to the work of the Beatles.

In this auction:

·       “HELP!” LP by George Martin & His Orchestra

·       This LP is United Artists UAL 3448.

·       It was released in September, 1965.

·       This is a MONAURAL (MONO) pressing.

·       The LP is a RARE UNITED ARTISTS WHITE LABEL PROMOTIONAL ISSUE.

·       As you probably know, PROMO RECORDS were only released by record companies to the radio stations and DJs for airplay or to music stores/departments for in-store play and were not made available to the general public for purchase. They have become VERY DESIREABLE to vinyl collectors due to their limited production (scarcity) and non-availability to the public.

·       The Beatles appear on the cover. (This is the same image that is inside the gatefold cover of the Capitol Records “HELP!” original motion picture soundtrack LP.) Their images were protected and did not appear on the cover of many LPs that were not Capitol/Apple Records pressings.

·       This LP contains instrumental versions of 7 Beatles songs that were in the motion picture “HELP!” plus 5 other Beatles songs. Three of the songs printed on the rear cover are identified by their early working titles: “Auntie Gin’s Theme” for “I’ve Just Seen A Face”, “That’s A Nice Hat (Cap)” for “It’s Only Love”, and “Scrambled Eggs” for “Yesterday”.

·       The white promo labels have the common titles for the songs, not their early working titles.

·       The COVER is in VERY NICE VG+ CONDITION. There is very light overall wear. There is light to moderate wear on the corners. The seams and the spine are very strong with NO flaking, NO cracking, and NO seam splits. There is just some light wear on the bottom seam. The cover image is nice and clean and without wear. The white reverse cover is very clean and white and without aging.

·       The VINYL is graded VERY STRONG VG+ CONDITION (not far from NM Minus) with just a few very light surface hairlines/scuffs. The vinyl has lots of gloss!

·       The United Artists WHITE PROMOTIONAL LABELS ARE CLEAN AND WHITE!

·       This LP comes with its ORIGINAL UNITED ARTISTS PAPER INNER SLEEVE that depicts other UA LPs out at the time including the Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night” LP.

This is a RARE BEATLES-RELATED PROMOTIONAL LP FOR THE HIGH BIDDER TO ADD TO HIS/HER VINYL COLLECTION! (I’m sure you know how really tough these United Artists White Label Promo Issues are to come by!!!)
