Description
IN THIS AUCTION:
· “CAPITOL HITS THROUGH THE YEARS” LP
· This LP is Capitol Records PRO 3724/3725.
· It was released in 1969.
· The labels are black Capitol labels with rainbow color band with “Subsidiary” print.
· It is a MONO LP since it lacks the “S” for “Stereo” preceding the “PRO”.
· It is the ORIGINAL PRESSING of the LP.
· It is NOT the 1882 reissue that has “Mfd. by Capitol” on purple Capitol labels.
· This LP is a SAMPLER/PROMOTIONAL ISSUE.
· It is a “Sampler LP” because it is narrated and contains more than 140 excerpts from Capitol artists’ hit recordings from 1942 to 1969.
· As you may know, PROMO RECORDS were only released by record companies to the radio stations and DJs for airplay or to music stores/departments and were NOT made available to the general public for purchase. This LP is a little different in terms of being a promotional record. Instead of being issued for DJs/Radio stations for on-air play, This “SAMPLER LP” WAS PRODUCED FOR CAPITOL RECORDS SALESMEN AND EXECUTIVES AND WAS NOT SOLD TO THE PUBLIC.
· The LP contains excerpts from 11 Beatles’ songs:
1963: “I Want To Hold Your Hand”
1964: “Can’t Buy Me Love”/“A Hard Day’s Night”
1965: “Yesterday”
1966: “Paperback Writer”
1967: “Yellow Submarine”/“Eleanor Rigby”/“All You Need Is Love”/“Strawberry Fields”
1968: “Hey Jude”/“Revolution”
· Other Beatles-related recording artists from the Capitol Records/Apple Records catalog on this LP are:
1964: Excerpt from “A World Without Love”, a Lennon-McCartney composition performed by Peter & Gordon (Peter Asher being the brother of Paul’s girlfriend, Jane Asher, and producer of James Taylor’s first LP on the Apple label).
1968: Excerpt from “Those Were The Days” performed by Mary Hopkin, an artist discovered by Paul McCartney and presented as one of the “First Four” artists on the Beatles’ new Apple Records label.
· Unique features of this Capitol Sampler/Promo LP are:
· The LABELS only have “PART 1” and “PART 2” printed on them.
· There are NO SEPARATIONS in the TRACKS on the VINYL on either side.
· The COVER, with a magnificent color photo of the iconic Capitol Tower in Los Angeles at sunrise, is is graded STRONG VG+ CONDITION. The cover has light overall wear, light edge wear, and light corner wear. There is a small corner push on the bottom right corner.
· The VINYL is graded NEAR MINT!
· This is a RARE BEATLES-RELATED CAPITOL RECORDS SAMPLER/PROMO LP in WONDERFUL CONDITION that will be a GREAT ADDITION to the high bidder’s vinyl collection!

I'm waiting for my new stylus to arrive, so, unfortunately,I can't check it on my turntable. I apologize for the uncertainty about this. I've checked on-line and can't find a definitive answer.
