READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles-Related LP 1964 George Martin Off The Beatle Track STEREO Label Error, VG++

About half of the Stereo copies have a minor label error, where the Side 1 designation is printed as “Side1.”  All MONO copies have “Side 1” on their labels.  This copy has the error.

I’ve always found it interesting that Martin was allowed to not only use The Beatles’ images, but images that weren’t previously published.  It gave him an edge on the teen market as well.  It didn’t help.  Sales were slightly “meh,” thus creating some nice mid-level collector’s items from the height of Beatlemania.  These photos were taken by Robert Freeman, the same guy who did the cover for “Meet the Beatles.”

This copy is definitely a first pressing, as opposed to the later Parlophone, See For Miles or Record Store Day reissues.

Vinyl--- VG++/VG+.  Strong vinyl.  Too strong a grade on Side 1 to settle for VG+, but it would be a cheat to go as far as EX.  Side 2 is squarely a VG+.  Plenty of original gloss, but a light amount of light scratches.

Plates--- 1A/1A.

Cover--- Strong VG.  Cover is structurally solid, NO SPLIT SEAMS.  Front has a stain at the center top.  Bottom right corner has a half-inch split.  Back cover has light to moderate yellowing.

(Liner notes are written by some ghost writer, a la Lennon’s “In His Own Write.”)

Labels--- EX/EX.  Nearly new-looking labels.

UA Inner Sleeve--- EX.  Very beautiful UA sleeve.  Just some wrinkling from improper insertion at the factory, but NO SEAM SPLITS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original UA inner sleeve en route.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
