1963 1st U.K. MONO PRESSING WITH THE GOLD TEXT WRITING STATEMENTS.
CATALOGUE NUMBER- PMC 1202
MATRICES: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N
MOTHER STAMPERS 1/T 1/H.
The 1st official Album release from The Beatles released 22nd March 1963. This very 1st pressing has the "Dick James" song credits on It's Labels.. Very soon after this copy went on sale, title credits were changed to "Northern Songs" due to the formation of The Beatles own publishing company of that name.....Those later copies today are now considered to be 2nd pressings but still with the gold writing labels... Yet, at the time very few people noticed that change..
Record condition: Graded V/G.. This is a very clean copy with it's original deep high gloss vinyl playing surfaces still very much in evidence.. There are a few non obtrusive handling marks on both sides but the record play's with a powerful clear audio with no sound deterioration or distortion even at high pitch volume..The record play's throughout with no skips, or stalls.. There is only a little static noise on the run- ins but other than that, there is very little surface noise even between track changes..
The Labels are graded easily as V/G. The gold text is perfectly legible with just a small amount of colour fade. There are no pen inscriptions or removed sticker marks but there is some spindle locating hole wear on each side.
The Original thick card front laminated picture cover was manufactured by E.J. DAY with the "Angus McBean" photo credit positioned in the correct extreme bottom right corner. Although is remains sturdy, It is graded as being in good condition. It remains fully intact except for part of the rear bottom flip back that has a part missing.. . Although the front picture has an extremely high gloss finish, there are some laminate wrinkles and all 4 corner edges have some scuff wear. The rear non laminate back panel reveals some staining plus there are two white liquid paper marks.. The covers spine however is undamaged and the album title wording is fully legible.. This album comes with It's original thick paper clear windowed "Use Emitex" Inner protector and clear plastic heavy duty outer protector.
This is entirely a genuine 1st "Gold" pressing
