Just days after the release of the Beatles first album, on the old style label, EMI introduced their new look 'Yellow Parlophone' which, thankfully, was to grace all original Beatles albums until the introduction of the insipid EMI boxed versions in 1969
However, the first attempt saw a small 33 1/3rd running speed included and a missing publishing date, in error. The second attempt saw this running speed removed but still no date added. This pressing display the new label in it's correct form, with the large 33 1/3rd and of course, the inclusion of 'recording first published 1963'
As a stereo copy, this first LP was still being pressed in relatively small numbers, as most fans owned a mono record player. I believe that retailers only stocked this album in mono, with stereo being a special order for a customer. This would seem to be true, as this copy still displays the earliest 1/1 mothers and just single letter stampers. In fact the A stamper would suggest that this is still from the first 1000 pressings

The Vinyl
Visually: Stunning, deep gloss surfaces, with no signs of groove wear - some light lines (nothing much) - lovely looking copy
Audio: Amazing, near silent track run ins - not even static hum - sound quality is exceptional throughout - a few light ticks at the end of Ask Me Why - a few random, light ticks on side two but nothing annoying (this is being very fussy) - no skips or stalls - fabulous example

The Labels
Vibrant yellow parlophones - great condition

Cover
EJ Day original, made from thick card - reasonable condition for a cover usually found in poor shape - notorious for terrible top and bottom flip backs, often with large pieces missing, this example has survived better than most - corners are bumped - spine is near perfect - small tape stain in bottom corner - much scarcer 'Stereo' variant, in solid condition

Inner Sleeve
Original with internal liner - rarer 'Made In England' text - top shape, small disc centre cut on the lower seam - minimal creasing
