Description
Hi Beatles Fans:
Up for sale is a copy of the Beatles Yesterday & Today second state butcher cover album. #6 cover made by Imperial Packing Co., Inc. of Indianapolis, IN.
Over the past several years the majority of the second state covers have been striped of the paste to a wide range of success.
You either sent it to a professional who has had a lot of experience with cleanly removing the paste over sheet which was very expensive adding to your initial purchase, or an inexperienced person who did a so so job and costs less.
Then many people attempted to do it themselves with varying degrees of success, mostly the end result was very bad.
So people started to realize that keeping the second state intact was a better idea.
Now it seems that the second state covers are in more demand as they represent the original state that the LP was issued, (obviously besides the First state covers which are very rare and only a small amount are know to exist and are very expensive).
I’m getting a feeling that the second state covers which will continue to go up in value.
Cover: Is overall in VG to Exc. condition.
Front cover is very good ++. Bottom right has a rip of the paste cover . It may been an attempt buy a previous owner to look under to see if it was genuine? Bad idea for many reasons. Besides seeing the misaligned paste showing the butcher picture underneath and the number one way on cover is seeing Ringo’s V neck sweater showing through the paste cover.
The three edges are 100% intact which is very rare as this one of the weakest area of the covers construction.
Some wrinkling on tip of upper left corner.
Opening edge is in great condition.
Overall back cover is in good condition. A two inch stain along the edge of the upper right corner.
Some slight LP impression. See picture of back cover.
See pictures for all areas described on cover, vinyl and inner sleeve.
Vinyl: overall condition is poor to fair. There are many light scuffs and scratches across both side. I played both sides and there are many ticks and surface noise but not skips or jumps. Obviously the overall grading would be higher but most of the price and condition is directed towards the cover condition. A replacement record can be purchased to upgrade the overall package.
The labels are in good condition with some hole wear.
* in dead wax designates pressing plant as Capital Pressing Plant, Los Angeles.
Inner Sleeve:
The original matching inner sleeve is in excellent condition. No splits on 3 sides and open edge is good. No rips.
