Beatles VI ST-2358 Vinyl Album and Yellow Submarine/Eleanor Rigby 45
Description
Up for sale is a lot of vintage Beatles related vinyl albums, one of which is a long play and the other is a 45. Included in this lot is a Beatles VI album; which has a catalog number of ST 2358. This album was originally released in 1965, but I'm not quite certain as to what pressing of the record this is exactly. It could be a later reissue or an early press. The only thing I do know for sure about this album was that it was printed in Canada, and there's also what appears to be a date written on the back of the album, which reads 12/71... so perhaps this was the year of reissue? Who knows?
The album exhibits signs of wear on it... from rips along the spline to tears along the bottom of the cardboard and some plainly visible yellowing on the sleeves that it came in; along with some tear aways on that as well. The album itself was never played by me, but was simply collected since I had no working record player at the time (and I still don't for that matter!) so any signs of use that you see on it came about from the previous owner. The sleeve that it comes with seems to be off, since it's written in German for the most part... which is unusual because this record was printed up in Canada, so I figure this may very well a substitute sleeve.
The songs on this album are as follows...
Side 1 1. Kansas City (2:30) 2. Eight Days A Week (2:43)
3. You Like Me Too Much (2:34) 4. Bad Boy (2:17) 5. I Don't Want To Spoil The Party (2:33) 6. Words Of Love (2:10)
Side 2 1. What You're Doing (2:30) 2. Yes It Is (2:40) 3. Dizzy Miss Lizzie (2:51) 4. Tell Me What You See (2:35) 5. Every Little Thing (2:01)
This vinyl record has a matrix number stamped on its inner groove which reads ST1-2358 followed by the letter A which has been stamped over an F? then followed by 5 and #2 on side 1 and then there's another matrix number on side 2 which reads ST1-2358-B2 and a little further down the innermost groove is an ampersand (i.e. &) symbol. This record is listed as being in Stereo and recorded in England, again with the catalog number of St-2358 along with the catalog number of ST-X-1-2358 (and ST-X-1-2358 for side 2) in parentheses.
The other record in this lot is a small 45 R.P.M. single which consists of one track per side. There's no exact indication as to which side is which, so let's just leave it as Yellow Submarine being on one side while Eleanor Rigby is on the other. The inlay doesn't make mention of the track times, but there is a catalog number on it which reads R 5493. Since I can't see any note that states that this recording was published previously, I'm guessing it must be a first pressing... but I can't guarantee it since this single does not come in a sleeve nor does it have any cover artwork either.
There's a matrix number stamped on the inner groove of the disc on the Yellow Submarine side which reads 7XCE 18396-1 at the bottom with the letters AH located to the right and the number 1 on the left. The other side's matrix number (i.e. Eleanor Rigby's side) has a matrix number that reads 7XCE 18395-1 along with the letters MT located towards the right and the number 7 on the left.
This 45 does not come with a cover, nor a sleeve. It's just a black album with a matching inlay that's been made by Parlophone. The center of the record still looks intact, as I've seen that similar listings out there usually have this center piece missing from previous use and whatnot. Either way, I had picked up both of these records a few years back and have decided to part ways with it since I'm pretty strapped for cash at the moment. I'm pretty sure this will make a fine addition to any Beatlemaniac's collection out there. My loss is your gain as they say in the trade!
