Beatles UK Rubber Soul LOUD cut & FACTORY SAMPLE

Greetings fellow Beatles LP collectors! For your consideration again (did not meet the reserve last time) is one of the "big fish" from my collection. I've eliminated the reserve and offered, what I think, is a very resonable opening bid. How many "-1" copies of Rubber Soul with the factory sample sticker have you ever seen offered? I don't recall any on eBay (or anywhere else) in over five years.

So, once more, it's the Beatles Rubber Soul in MONO (PMC 1267) on the original black and yellow Parlophone label from the UK. What makes this one particularly interesting is that it is the so called "loud-cut" version with the "-1" matrix on both sides (XEX-579-1 & XEX 580-1) AND it has the "factory sample not for sale" sticker applied to the side 2 label.

As many of you are aware, this sticker was applied to promotional (promo) copies supplied to EMI executives, radio stations and the like. Nice "loud -cut" versions of Rubber Soul are hard to find, but ones with a factory sample sticker as well are very scarce. The disc also has the unusual "MT" tax code embossed under the side 2 label instead of the correct and common "KT" code. If that isn't enough, it also has the less common E. J. Day cover!

The cover is a very nice EX having some minor detractions. There are a few minor creases from handling and a corner of the lower "flipback" had been folded back, but has been repaired/re-glued (see photo). Otherwise, the seams and spine show little to no wear and the front and back are clean. If it weren't for the repaired "flipback" I would grade the cover EX+.

The disc is in wonderful shape as well. Both labels are beautiful NM. The only marks on the disc are light sleeve "hairlines" and a few VERY light, VERY small scuffs. Side 1 is EX+ and side 2 is EX visually directly under a high watt bulb. Both sides play EX to EX+. (This is on my Rega Planar 3 deck with a Rega Elys cartridge which is very unforgiving as it does not play deep in the groove. There is only light hiss between tracks which is seldomly detectable during playback. If your deck has a stylus that rides deeper in the record groove your results could, and probably will, be better. My setup is a worst case scenario.) The mother number at nine o'clock on side 1 is "3". The stamper letters at 3 o'clock are "TO". The side 2 mother code is a bit odd. There is the letter "C" above the numeral "3" which is above the numeral "6". The stamper letters are "TH".
