Summary:
No doubt, one of the ICONIC albums of the 20th Century, ‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’ was released by EMI/Parlophone, UK back in 1967. It went straight to Number 1, and dominated the top position in the charts for 23 weeks!
Album Description and Condition:
Released by Parlophone/EMI UK in 1969, this is the Black and SILVER Parlophone ONE EMI BOX LABEL variant the first of the newly designed black and silver Parlophone labels
The LP is on the traditional Black & Silver Parlophone Label, with ‘The Gramophone Co Ltd’ label rim, with ‘Made in Gt Britain ’ label text reference to both record labels.
Side 1 stamped matrix: YEX 637-1 and Side 2: YEX 638-1.
Side 1 stampers: 3/GPG and Side 2: 4/GPG.
Both record labels are in STUNNING near mint condition. Both labels are BRIGHT, and UNWORN, with NO handwriting or fading to the bold Silver Printed text, showing only a couple of faint centre spide trails.
Both sides of the Vinyl Disc are in EXCELLENT PLUS condition . Beautiful, UNWORN, Vinyl Playing surfaces to both sides, showing a couple of non sounding surface marks.
The Vinyl Disc comes in is ORIGINAL, EMI Advertising inner bag printed which is also in PRISTINE condition, with NO splitting to any of the edges or tearing.
And comes with its mint UNDAMAGED Sgt Pepper cut-out.
Now for this RARE VARIANT SLEEVE description. The Fully Laminated GATEFOLD sleeve is the RARITY in this package. The sleeve features the DUAL MONO AND STEREO PRINTED STATEMENT on the top right hand corner to the reverse (see scan). Please note that this sleeve is EXTREMELY RARE and it is the FIRST TIME THAT WE HAVE OFFERED ONE.
The sleeve is in FINE excellent plus condition. The front and reverse panels still retain their ULTRA GLOSSY laminate - NO fading to the DEEP VIVID colors, with only extremely minimal record indentation and a couple of mild corner bruises. There are NO seam splits to the top and bottom edges. The inside of the Gatefold Sleeve is in SUPERB near mint condition – it still cracks when you open it! LOVELY UNDAMAGED internal fold over flaps. The spine edge is CLEAN and FIRM and clearly reads 'Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band'. The bottom edge of the reverse panel of the gatefold sleeve has a 1.75" wear mark to the bottom seam
One can only speculate as to how many of these DUAL MONO AND STEREO Sleeve exist – This one is the FIRST that we have seen! RARE!!
