Description

Here is a RARE ONE for the collection of the high bidder!

  • “McCARTNEY” LP by Paul McCartney

  • This LP is Apple Records STAO – 3363.

  • This LP was released April 20, 1970.

  • The other Beatles decided that the release of this LP at the same time as the group’s “Let It Be” LP may hurt the sales of “Let It Be”, so they decided to try to convince Paul to delay the release of his “McCartney” LP. Ringo was sent as the messenger to convey their wishes to Paul. Paul absolutely refused to delay the release of his LP. As the story goes, after cornering Ringo against the wall in the foyer of his house and berating him with “finger wagging” in his face, Paul threw him out of his house (Poor Ringo, who was only acting as the messenger for the others.)

  • This is the VERY HARD-TO-FIND PRESSING with the APPLE LABEL WITH THE CAPITOL LOGO IN THE RIM PRINT OF THE SLICED APPLE SIDE.

  • It is the RAREST PRESSING of the “McCartney” LP with the highest dollar value.

  • Furthermore, the Side 1 label of this LP has the song title “Oh You” misspelled as “Ooh You”. (This was corrected on all other pressings.)

  • The LP title and artist are centered in the upper part of the label on both sides.

  • The LP was pressed in the Jacksonville plant with LA style labels.

  • The LP has a GATE-FOLD COVER and has Apple Record’s New York address on the back without any mention of ABKCO.

  • The COVER is GRADED VERY STRONG VG+ with very light wear on this predominately black cover that was prone to easily show wear. But this one is quite clean and absent of much wear. There is light wear on the corners and at the bottom of the front and rear covers.

  • The VINYL is in VG+ CONDITION with some very light surface hairlines/scuffs (None are “feelable”.)

  • Apple LPs that have labels with the Capitol Logo in the perimeter printing are usually harder to find than other pressings. In fact, the ONLY Beatles solo LPs known to exist with this label style are: George’s “Wonderwall Music” (I’ve only found 1 copy in 30 years of searching) , John’s “Live Peace in Toronto”, Paul’s “Ram”, and the LP in this auction, “McCartney”.

A NICE RARE PRESSING of this Paul McCartney LP to add to your collection!
