Beatles RARE 2nd State Pasteover Butcher Cover STEREO

Hello Beatles collectors!  This auction is for a 1966 "Yesterday & Today" stereo 2nd state pasteover butcher cover LP, Capital Records catalog# ST-2553.  In 1966, The Beatles and Capital Records issued this LP, originally with a picture on the front cover of The Beatles dressed in butcher smocks/labcoats and covered with pieces of meat and doll parts (1st state cover). This, apparently, was a statement by the boys, however, somebody was "offended" and a recall was launched. Some of the covers were not returned, some destroyed and some were recovered with a toned down cover (trunk cover) which was "pasted over" the offensive cover (2nd state pasteover cover) and reissued for sale and distribution. When all of the offensive covers were destroyed or pasted over and reissued, a standard cover was issued with the trunk version only.  Since then, collectors have sought out these "2nd state pasteover" covers to either hold on to, or peel them to reveal the original cover (3rd state cover).  As I stated earlier, this is a "2nd state pasteover" with the original "offensive" cover lying beneath, and, this cover is perfect for peeling or collecting. These pasteover covers have soared in value as of late due to a great number of them being peeled, AND, the stereo versions are rarer and much more valuable. Condition is as follows: COVER...Strictly graded as VG+ or better with the following issues: Normal age tanning to the back cover and slightly to the front, all corners and seams have extremely slight wear, bottom-right corner has a 1/4" split from the mouth, a sticker stain and abrasion on upper-right corner not affecting the butcher (pic), some kind of stain on the bottom-left seam with a couple of bumps on the same seam and a sticker stain on the back cover (pic), NO writing. This is a factory #5 pressing and Ringo's V-neck can be plainly seen through the trunk cover. RECORD...Strictly graded at VG++ with all or most of its original luster, about 5 light scuffs and/or scratches, labels have minor spindle tracks on side 2, none on side 1 and look great. The original orange inner sleeve is included in VG++ shape! By the way, if you haven't noticed, the trunk picture was printed backwards by Capital as evidenced by the name of the trunk (Reliant) spelled backwards on the inner lid label! As a bonus, I will also include a copy of the original recall letter issued by Capital Records, these are quite collectible by themselves!
