THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1963 UK 1st MONO PRESSING LP
**EXCELLENT BLACK & GOLD LABEL COPY**
This excellent 1963 1st mono pressing is on the UK black & gold Parlophone label: PMC 1202
The labels have the incorrect 'Dick James Mus. Co.' publishing credits for songs: 1 & 2 on side 1 and 4 & 6 on side 2.
There is no tax/price code visible in the centre of either label.
Housed in a correct, front laminated, tri-flipback 'E.J. Day' printed mono cover with the 'Angus McBean' credit in the extreme lower right hand corner.
Complete with its original 'Use Emitex' poly-lined inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: XEX 421-1N & XEX 422-1N

Labels: Side 1 EXCELLENT PLUS
A fine set with just minor centre-hole wear but no writing, touch-up or missing paper.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Both surfaces are clean & glossy - undulled by groove-whitening or 'bag-rash' from improper long-term storage.
Viewed in strong daylight a few very light stylus hairlines are visible but there are no other significant marks or any deep/feelable scratches.
Close inspection beneath a halogen desk lamp reveals nothing more than a few faint wispy sleeve removal hairlines but no other wear.
Audio: EXCELLENT
This copy has been carefully but certainly not over-played and there is no major lessening to the sound quality.
The sound is overall clear and powerful and careful listening at volume revealed no crackle or significant groovewear distortion to any track.
Both run-ins & all bands play extremely quietly without any clicks, pops or other intereference.
There are no heavy clicks, jumps, repeats or any other major audible faults anywhere.
Cover: EXCELLENT MINUS
A very clean front panel with an undamaged glossy laminant bearing just a few light creases to the edges but no significant or major faults.
The corners display some light wear but are clean & unbumped. The opening edges have a touch of light wear to both sides but no tears.
The rear panel is clean & white with just a few light handling marks & the original shop retailer's sticker (which I have not attempted to remove).
All the delicate flipbacks are in-place with no missing paper and the easily worn lower seam is clean & intact with no flaking or missing paper.
Both seams are unsplit and the spine clean & perfectly worded.
All discs are carefully play graded in their entirety on a Rega P9 deck with an Ortofon Kontrapunkt 'A' cartridge.
