THE BEATLES - 'PLEASE, PLEASE ME'
1963 UK '3rd' PRESS *STEREO* LP
**ULTRA-RARE EARLY COPY**
This rare 1963 UK '3rd' STEREO pressing is on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PCS 3042
Both labels omit the 'Sold in UK..' & 'Recording First Published..' texts.
The rims around each label begin 'Parlophone Co. Ltd..'
The 'MT' tax/price code is visible on the side 2 label.
Housed a 'gold & black' front laminated, tri-flipback 'Garrod & Lofthouse' cover.
The 'Angus McBean' credit is positioned in the extreme lower right corner.
Complete with its original poly-lined 'Use Emitex' inner-sleeve.
Matrix numbers: YEX 94-1 & YEX 95-1
Stamper numbers: 1/P & 1/G
Very rare to see a '1/G' mother/stamper on side 2.
Despite having a black & yellow label, this signifies this copy was one of the first few hundred pressed.
Visual: EXCELLENT PLUS
Both sides are extremely clean, bright & glossy with no groove-whitening or dulling to either surface from improper long-term storage.
Apart from two light surface scuffs on side 2, the disc appears completely unmarked in strong direct daylight.
Close & careful inspection directly under a halogen desk lamp reveals a few light inner-sleeve removal hairlines, but no further visible wear.
100% flat both sides on the turntable with no dishing or warping.
Audio: EXCELLENT PLUS
Just a few careful plays on good quality equipment has left the sound clear & clean on all tracks
There is no trace of any background noise or groovewear distortion in either channel.
Both run-ins and all bands play extremely quietly and there are no clicks, jumps or any other major fault anywhere.
Cover: EXCELLENT MINUS
This rare example is extremely clean & strong, bearing only minor handling & storagewear and no major signs of wear.
The front panel is clean & glossy with just a few light spine & edge wrinkles but no 'thumbnail' creases toward the opening edge.
The lower corners have slight shelfwear rubs but both opening edge are clean & unworn with no tears or 'feathering'.
The rear panel is clean & white with just a small 'rub' to the text just below Ringo's name, but no writing or major wear.
All the delicate flipbacks are intact & in-place and both seams & the spine are all undamaged.
This disc has been carefully audibly graded in its entirety on a Rega P9 deck fitted with a Shelter 901 cartridge.
