The Beatles - Please Please Me
I am pleased to offer for sale this outstanding, final upgrade copy of the Beatles' debut studio album.
The record is presented on the 5th variation of the yellow and black Parlophone labels and is housed within an extremely rare 'small mono' sleeve.
Due to the on-set of Beatlemania, early issue Please Please Me LPs have generally been played to death on a low quality early 60s record deck. This copy stands out by remaining in fantastic condition. The heavy weight vinyl looks and sounds simply superb and the sleeve looks almost shop-new. A true final upgrade!
Album Details:
Serial number: PMC 1202
Matrix number: XEX 421 - 1N / XEX 422 - 2N
Stamper codes: 15 RHP / 6 GO
Tax Codes: KT
Vinyl Weight: 170g
The matrix numbers inform us that this record is a UK first pressing crossover (side 2 is from the second lacquer plates).
The vinyl has the 7th variation labels identified by the absence of the "Recording First Published..." text to the left hand side and the presence of the text: "Sold in the U.K. ...".
The vinyl is housed inside a front-side laminated E J Day & Co. sleeve. The sleeve is the extremely rare third variant, identifiable by the small 'mono' aural indicator to the front side.
Also included is the original patents pending EMI inner sleeve.

Vinyl: MINT -
Labels: MINT -
The labels are bright, clean and without writing. A single spindle mark is present to either side.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
The vinyl retains immaculate 'factory-fresh' deep-gloss playing surfaces. In bright daylight there are no visible surface marks. Underneath a halogen desk lamp a few barely visible wispy hairlines can be seen alongside a sparkling rainbow shine.
Sound Quality: MINT -
Please use the eBay internet site to enjoy the audio clips. The eBay app does not facilitate playback.
Side 1:
Side 2:
As can be heard in the above clips, the heavy-weight monaural vinyl sounds simply superb. The bass is punchy, the vocals are crisp and clear and the instrumentation is well defined. Very difficult to improve upon.
Sleeve: MINT-
The now iconic album sleeve looks fantastic. The front laminate retains the original lustre and the cover art maintains bright colours. The rear is extremely clean with barely a single blemish. The bottom left hand corner has very subtle softening. The remaining three corners are strong. The top, bottom and opening edges along with the spine are without any wear.
Inner Sleeve: EXCELLENT +
The original inner sleeve is in great condition. It is very clean, without any staining and with minimal creasing.
Additional Details:
Before the audio test, the vinyl was cleaned first by an Okki Nokki vacuum cleaner and then an Audio Desk ultrasonic cleaner.
After cleaning, the vinyl was placed inside a brand new mobile fidelity anti-static inner sleeve.
The vinyl will be packaged outside of the sleeve, both of which are stored inside an archival quality polypropylene outer sleeve.
The record will be sent via an insured courier in a padded vinyl mailer.
