Description

Here we have an early Mono pressing of the Beatles 1963 first album Please Please Me on the
Black & Gold Parlophone label.
The matrix numbers are XEX 422-1N / XEX 422-1N

The label bears the Dick James Music publishing credits, apparently printed in error
and later corrected on subsequent pressings.

I'm not qualified to say if this is a first or second pressing, and would like the experts out there to judge for themselves as I know nothing about record grading.
This copy was originally in the BBC record library in the early 1960s.
The DJs & presenters at the time would access their records from
the BBC library when they were choosing discs for their shows,
then return them to the library for the next broadcaster to use.
Hence it bears the rubber stamped mark "Return B.B.C. Library".

I'm selling this on behalf of a friend who was the singer in a band with me
for ten years during the 1960s & 70s.
This record was a gift to him from an old girlfriend.
Unfortunately, it's so long ago he can't remember her name.
He doesn't do eBay so I'm listing it on his behalf.
Just for interest I've attached a video clip of our band.
As I mentioned, Brian was the singer, I was the guitar player with the green Fender Telecaster.

The record has scratches and a few scuffs.
It plays a bit scratchy, but then the EMI cut is so good that it still plays nice and loud
as you can see and hear in the video clip.
Just as we all experienced it back in 1963!
It was great to listen to it again this afternoon as I as making the video.
The cover has an adhesive tape repair along the bottom,
a  strip of tape on the front (probably from the BBC library),
and a little scuffing on the front cover.
On the back top left corner is the dedication "To Brian xxx".
Thanks for looking.
