Description

It all started with this recording. Tony Sheridan was playing clubs in Hamburg Germany along side the Beatles. Producer Bert Kaempfert visited the Top Ten club and subsequently signed Sheridan and the Beatles to his company Bert Kaempfert Productions.
A recording date was set for June 22, 1961 in Hamburg. Sheridan and the Beatles performed "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean," and "The Saints". "My Bonnie" was released as a single with "The Saints" as the B-side in Germany through Polydor Records on October 23rd 1961. This version featured a slow introduction to the song "My Bonnie", sung entirely in German ("Mein Herz").  It was credited to Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers. The Beat Brothers consisted of guitarists John Lennon, George Harrison, and Paul McCartney, bassist Stuart Sutcliffe, and drummer Pete Best. Stuart did not play on the recordings. .
On January 5, 1962, Polydor "re-released" the "My Bonnie" single worldwide, but this time replacing  the German slow introduction with an all English slow introduction. This newly remixed release became the standard Polydor issue from this point forward, and was marketed as a "TWIST" release to cash-in on the popularity of the current Twist dance craze at the time. This is indicated by the word change from "Rock" to "Twist" on the "My Bonnie" side, and the removal of the German phrase "Mein Herz ist bei dir nur" underneath the title.
Offered here is the hard to find January 5, 1962, "Twist" version: The vinyl is in overall nice condition, with maybe some light scuffing, but no scratches that can actually be felt.  I don't have a turntable available so I don't know if there are any problem with the play of this vinyl.. The labels on both sides are clean, with no stains or other markings and there is no visible ring wear. The vinyl comes with a rare original first pressing Polydor "Twist" picture sleeve (note Polydor # 24 673 not 10 24 673, which was a later reissue) that is in excellent condition, .Other than some edge wear and storage wrinkles, there are no tears or markings. Please see photos for a more detailed description. This piece of Beatles' history would make a nice addition to any Beatles/record collection.  Shipped USPS Ground Advantage within three business days after receipt of payment.
