The late 1970s' issued boxed-set of audiophile editions of the Beatles' original 14 stereo LPs (including the later reissue of Magical Mystery Tour as a 12") done with half-speed mastering from the original master tapes, each with an individual cover photo of the original master tape (which allows the browser to discover, for instance, that their first album wasn't mixed into stereo by George Martin until January of 1964 - 9 months after release, which confirms his surprize during an interview when he said it was only in mono for the first year of release, and he was shown an advert for the original 1963 release, saying available in mono and stereo. Apparently, Parlophone had done a quickie mix and tossed it onto the market without anyone's permission).

The box is intact, with the faux bronze latch and hinges somewhat lightly discolored with age; the records having been played fewer than 5 times in the last 30-odd years, with Let It Be and Abbey Road never having been played at all to my knowledge (I seldom played either of my original LPs, so was less than curious about their half-speed possibilities). The booklet of illustrated original album covers (in the event you'd forgotten what they looked like) is intact, as is the Geo-Disc, for calibrating tone arm weight. Played seldom and very carefully. Stored away from heat and light since all those years ago.

It is numbered 3859 in the limited edition run. 

Some further clarifications of the above description:

The box is intact, with no dents, chips, rubs, fading or unseemly bulges - all corners are sharp, the hinges are working splendidly, with only two cosmetic flaws - the faux bronze latch and hinges seem to have been bronzed with a plastic laminate, and this has peeled here and there, particularly on the latch, and so that color has faded a bit, and the felt pad under the box has worn a little at the rear edge; the records are as described above; the covers are near mint, with no scuffing, fraying to the bottom edge, chips or bends. There is some extremely minor flaw to the top of the spines, but as it is on all of the covers, and is exactly the same, my guess is that it came that way. The booklet is intact, with no bends or folds and has been in a plastic LP sleeve since I bought it

Most frequently asked questions - WHEN DID I BUY IT? - 1982, just before I got married and became responsible. WHERE? -Record Bar, Media PA in a local mall. SURE IT'S IN NEAR MINT SHAPE? - Yup: I never intended this set to be my primary copies of the records, and so hardly ever took them out except for special occasions, and I didn't have many of them. I had 24 copies of Revolver at one point, and they were much easier to reach than the closets where this stayed. WHY DON'T YOU HAVE MORE PICTURES OF IT UP? - It never occured to me people who wanted it and were bidding on it wouldn't know what it looked like - and by the time it did, the picture section wasn't something I was allowed to add to. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO SHIP TO...? It weighs about 16lbs....
