I do not just throw a box set like this on Ebay without giving you as much information as possible to help you make your decision. Many folks just throw these sets up for sale and ask ridiculous prices without knowing much about them to begin with. WE HAVE SOLD DOZENS OF THESE SETS HAVING BOUGHT OUT STORES AND WAREHOUSE FINDS OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS. WE KNOW A GOOD QUALITY SET FROM ONE THAT HAS PROBLEMS. REST ASSURED THAT YOUR COMPLETE SATISFACTION IS GUARANTEED HERE. Now for the skinny on this offering:
This offering is for one of the "holy grails" of audiophile rock, Mobile Fidelity's 'Beatles - The Collection' box set. It usually needs no introduction to the world of music lovers and Beatles fans. However, there is a lot to know about these out of print legends. Arguably the greatest sounding release of the Beatles albums ever, these pressings sound considerably better than any standard LP or CD release. All 14 albums in this box set were mastered at half speed from the original master tapes. They were pressed onto pure JVC super vinyl (which is no longer made due to expense) with each lp having an extraordinarily quiet playing surface, extreme durability, and a lifespan that exceeds conventional pressings many times over. These records actually start sounding better the more times you play them. This particular set is a first printing set and was pressed in Japan which is extremely desirable as their stampers made the best fidelity. Not all of these sets were pressed there with some being manufactured in the United States. The Japanese sets are the best, and this is one of them.
These out-of-print LP’s are some of the finest audiophile LP's on the market. I have tried all of the other "remastered" releases of the last 15-20 years, and they just don't stack up to these pressings. Be aware there are what are called Hot Stampers that can be purchased from specialty dealers, but those can cost up to $750 for one record. You also need a very high end and well-chosen sound system to get the full benefit of such an expensive record. You can sock thousands of dollars into a set of those. Believe me, hot stampers are the ultimate, but that is for the obsessive listener who has deep pockets. These lps will be as close as you can get to a hot stamper at a fraction of the price.
The future of these collectibles is also exciting because each piece is a sonic work of art that will never be reproduced again using this state-of-the-art proprietary technology. High quality ingredients and attention to detail from beginning to end was used on these Beatles' sets. The depth and dimension of the music is delivered back to you with all the dynamics and richness of the live recording session. With Mobile Fidelity, you will to hear a multi-dimensional quality to the music that you will not get on standard vinyl.
Original Master Recordings also give you the opportunity to experience the full audio potential of your sound system. The only way to convince you that an Original Master Recording will improve the performance of your stereo system is to hear one. Don't miss out on this opportunity because I am sure that at least nine of these lps were never played. How do I know? They still had the little cardboard punch outs from the manufacturing process on the vinyl inside the rice paper sleeves, and they also still had the vinyl burrs in the spindle holes from not being played. I cleaned each and every one of these lps on my VPI vacuum record cleaning machine using what I have found to be the best cleaning fluid available. Disc Doctor fluid is what I use and can be bought through Better Records in LA, California, and is just amazing. The ingredients in the cleaning fluid actually increases the already amazing fidelity of these recordings.
This impressive set was released worldwide in September 1982. The set of half-speed mastered records was presented in a handsome black box with gold foil printing. Each set is sequentially numbered and includes a beautiful 38-page booklet containing the artwork for each album with the official booklet incorporating a numbered certificate of authenticity. Each of the virgin vinyl discs are protected in a special dust free protective inner sleeve and a gate fold card MFSL Custom Picture outer sleeve displaying the master tape of the A and B sides for each particular recording, plus dates on which the recordings took place. ITEM CONDITION:
All of the original contents are here. The box set was opened and maybe three albums have been played once or twice. Most of the lps are unplayed! They still have some of the little paper fuzzies in them from the packaging process! This is box set number 15,236 making it a true Japanese Victor Super Vinyl pressing. The booklet is nice and tight - all but like new with the exception of one small bend in the white paper covering on the upper edge.
All of the lps are NM and shine like a wet piece of glass. I was the first to take most of them out of their rice paper sleeves for the first time. Covers are NM. The box has a couple of very small bumps from moving and storage. There is one extremely light rub mark on the left front door that looks like it was left by a cleaning agent. All of the hinges are like new and do not exhibit the usual oxidation and patina that most of these sets have. It's all here. It's all NM on the inside. A master set of original master recordings that is unsurpassed in listening pleasure.
