Red Apple Sleeve, 2U/2U Record, Earliest stampers 1OO/2MP!!!
Overview: A very nice, early example of the Let it Be Box set. Earliest mother/stamper codes (1/2), red apple logo, 2U/2U vinyl matrices. Complete package, nice condition. Has been handled well, but well known for flimsy packaging, and materials showing some signs of age. Comments on all the components are included below.
Cover: Original red apple logo. These were rather thin flimsy covers, so some creasing on the periphery of both sides and spine. Small cracking around the opening. Finger print smudging. Go with the grading (VG+) and pix.
Vinyl: Very first press album, with 2U/2U matrixes on both sides.
Vinyl is dark, glossy, sheen on initial appearance. But lots of hairlines on both sides when held up to the light. Some thin, small scratches more noticeably on side 2. Would grade as EX.
Earliest mother/stampers: 1 OO/2 MP.
Labels: Dark green apple labels. Robust colours. Some spindle marks on both sides.
Outer slipcase: Still robust, but with some creasing on both sides, more prevalent on the peripheries. Small laminate indent on the back-side. Creasing on the lower spine. Good strong colour photos on the front, unaffected by marks.
Original Inner tray: Not a repro. Still, pretty robust considering how badly made they were; creasing and minor splits due to the flimsiness of the packaging. [see pix]
Original ‘Get Back’ Book: Nice clean glossy covers. Sharp edges. Complete, but please note these had notoriously ineffectual spines and glue, and already about 6 or so pages have come away towards the middle, with the possibility of more pages under threat if handled frequently.
Inner sleeve: Original plain white ‘Patent no. 1,125,555.’
N.B. The 'PXS 1' catalogue number did not appear anywhere on the package, it was for catalogue/ordering purposes only.
