READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles LP White Album Strange 1971 Apple Pressing with A-Plates, All 4 Sides! EX
Most collectors know that the 1971 reissue of the White Album had plates that started around the G series. This copy is the only 1971 pressing discovered to my knowledge, where all four plates are in the later A series. I’ve been looking since the early 1980’s for another copy, and they aren’t out there.
Rare indeed!
Vinyl--- EX/EX. EX/EX. All four sides shine with 95% new-looking vinyl. Just one or two extremely light lines per side. Beautiful vinyl!
Plates--- A71/A70. A75/A68. (See photos and then check your copies.) Hand-etched Delta symbol (or rifle) in the dead wax on both sides makes this copy pressed in Winchester.
Cover--- VG. Not the best. Cover has dirtwear and stains, both sides. Nearly imperceptible water damage at the bottom is not more than a light stain. Top two pockets have 4-inch splits. Some light ballpoint in blue on the front and back covers. Gatefold has no center seam splits.
The odd thing with this cover is that, you know how all White Album covers have the word, “Stereo” in the upper right corner on the back? Not this one. It’s missing.
Poster--- VG+. Nice poster. The only issue is some very minor water damage that corresponds with the cover.
Photos--- NM. All four photos have completely 100% escaped any of the light water exposure this album had. Nice photos!
Labels--- EX/EX. EX/EX. With the exceptions of one or maybe two extremely light spindle marks, these labels look brand new.
Capitol Inner Sleeves--- Generic white sleeves. They also bear the signature of the water damage, but they can easily be replaced if you want to.
RIAA: N/A.
This could very well be the only known copy of a 1971 issue with A plates! A second copy has been on the want lists of nearly every dealer I’ve done business with for over 40 years, and I’ve not received word back from a single one of them!
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
