READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles LP Revolver 1966 STEREO Consignment RARE “Audio Matrix” Pressing, NM Vinyl!
Collectors know the sound quality of the Vee Jay albums pressed by Audio Matrix. Very deep back-to-front information accompanies the left-right stereo sound of their platters.
There are only two Beatles titles that I’m aware of, which had consignment pressings done by Audio Matrix. A Hard Day’s Night Soundtrack and this one. And this one’s a stunner!
Vinyl--- NM/NM. Slight dulling of the grooves over the decades, but NO SCRATCHES, although there are sub-surface lines from the manufacturing process. A real beauty of this tough piece!
Plates--- Audio Matrix didn’t use Capitol plate numbers, as did the other consignment plants. They used the dates of the pressing plates, accompanied by the album’s catalogue number and side designations. That said, the dead wax info is as follows:
ST-1-2576-A/ ST-1-2576-B, 10-15-66/10-16-66, Audio Matrix, both sides.
Cover--- VG. Has lots of general wear. Front has light dirtwear, back has moderate to heavy ringwear. Top and bottom seams have moderate shelfwear, spine is missing 3 inches of slick where the title should appear.
Labels--- NM/NM. NO SPINDLE MARKS.
Scranton first-pressing labels with songwriting credits listed as only John’s and Paul’s last names. George’s full name is used for his contributions. Concentric groove is very similar to Columbia lathes, with two exceptions:
Although the location is the same, there is a deeper cut to the groove, with the label portion that’s inside the groove lower than outside of the groove.
Secondly, whereas the Columbia groove has a smoothened surface, the Audio Matrix groove has a sharp edge to it, creating areas of white, where the paper has been cut into.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG-. Original yellow Capitol inner sleeve is present, and it presents well. Nice and flat, with bold colors. However; all 3 seams are split a few inches.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: None.
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
