READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

Beatles LP Odd Sgt. Pepper Reissue, EX Vinyl!

Not having a turntable, I’ve never actually played this one.  It’s got some strange features that could make it either a test pressing for the 1978 picture disc, or else it’s an album of outtakes.

*The dead wax has the catalogue number on each side, “SEAX 11950,” which was the catalogue number for the Sgt. Pepper picture disc from 1978.

*The concentric ring is identical to the rings found on the Japanese non-Capitol plant tests for the cash cow LP’s from the 70’s, i.e. Rock and Roll music and Love Songs.

*However, what raises my eyebrow, making me think this is an outtakes LP for Sgt. Pepper is that Side 1 has nine tracks instead of 7.  Side 2 has the correct number of bands.

*The cover is also a slight curio, being an American cover, but having a ribbed surface throughout, which I’ve never seen on any other copy.  See photo.  

No insert.

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  Reflects NM under normal lighting, but a very close examination shows extremely light and short angel hairs, and not that many, per side.

Plates--- Apart from the catalogue number and Side designations, there are no other markings.

Cover--- VG.  Cover has light to moderate wear.  Front, gatefold and back covers are ribbed.  No insert was included when I bought it.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Side 2 label has some light ink that didn’t print.  The word, “Band” is missing, so it’s possibly that.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- None.  I’ve provided one for you.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A.

Whatever this is, I’d love to hear from the new owner what’s on these grooves.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
