READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.

So with that said…

Beatles LP Introducing the Beatles 45-Sized Label with Brackets and ERROR Starter Copy

Most collectors know that a very small number of copies of this LP was pressed with 45-sized labels when Vee Jay ran short of the regularly-sized LP labels.  This copy is a very good starter copy, with the “Coffin-King” error printed under the song title, “Chains.”

Sometimes I wonder, given Vee Jay’s bleak situation at that time, whether putting that particular error under that particular title was a gallows humor inside joke, a subliminal slip or a true error.

Vinyl--- VG.  Plays VG+.  Lots of light scratches, none that are feelable.  Vee Jay vinyl was remarkable for playing back better than they look, and this is no exception.  There is surface noise from the thick vinyl stock, but the stylus detects maybe 50 or 60% of the scratches.

Plates--- “Audio Matrix,” “ARP” and “URJ” all present on both sides.  Side 1 date is 1-23-64.  Side 2 date is 2-6-64.

Cover--- VG-.  Presents well enough, but the bottom seam is split more than halfway.

Labels--- VG.  Photos are brightened to show detail.  Lots of spindle marks, light to moderate wear.  Side 2 label has some bubbling, which look like air pockets, rather than something like sticker removal.  See photos.

Inner Sleeve--- VG.  Issued in a plain white sleeve with no die-cut holes for the labels to show through.  Sleeve has yellowed over the years, has a four-inch split to one seam.  Easily replaceable if you like.

RIAA: 2. Yes, this cover has a numeral where the RIAA number would be had this been issued by Capitol.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.

CAUTION!  There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids.  A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
