READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
Beatles LP Help! 1969 Record Club Green Label Issue Refreshed A1 Plates, NM!
The Record Club started issuing their Beatles Record Club issues in 1968, on both black rainbow and green labels. Early copies had used the last plates of the run in the “W” series, before having to refresh the plates to the second “A” series. These refreshed plates retained all the differences in the Record Club mixes from the commercially-released mix, but the refresh took the sound quality back up a hefty notch from the worn mother plate, which had pressed LP’s from the first “A” series through the “W” series.
Vinyl--- NM/NM. Both sides look suspiciously close to unplayed.
Plates--- A1/A1. Record Club copies were not pressed by Capitol Records, so there are no Capitol markings in the dead wax. There are however; the Record Club markings of the numeral “8” inserted into the catalogue numbers on each side.
Cover--- VG+. Cover presents pretty new. However; there are splits in the top, bottom and spine. See photos.
Gatefold--- VG+. The gatefold grade would have been EX, except that someone wrote their name at the top on both panels. See photo.
Labels--- NM/NM. Both labels look 1969-brand new. They also feature the Record Club markings of lacking the small Capitol logo at the 5 O’clock position bottom of the labels, plus the inserted numeral 8 in the catalogue numbers to the right of the playhole. NO SPINDLE MARKS, FULL GLOSS.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX. Generic white inner sleeve with die-cut hole for the labels to show is present. A light amount of finger divots per side. Has absolutely NO yellowing. NO SPLIT SEAMS.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: N/A
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
