Description
This is an original 2nd state version of the Beatles LP "Yesterday and Today" in the Stereo format. 2nd state means that the trunk cover is pasted over the original cover of this LP, which features the Beatles in smocks with red meat and a babydoll head. This cover was deamed inappropriate, resulting in the trunk cover being pasted over it. The condition of this piece is really quite wonderful. First of all, this LP has been with the original owner all these years, meaning that it has stayed inside the house. The result is that the cover is firm and crisp. The opening of the jacket is also flat and tight, meaning that it has not been exposed to the moisture outside or been locked in a garage somewhere. There are no smells and the cover was in a smoke-free invironment. The seams are beautiful with no splits and are a clean white. The spine is beautiful with no splits, and the print is dark and clear. The corners are all solid and firm, with just the beginning of a flair on the lower right one. The owner did not know about the "butcher cover" underneath, so no one has attempted lift up the corners of the slick. The slick is flat and perfectly placed. There is no wear ring. There is some light aging (browning)on the very left (see photo) and lightly on the very right. The picture of the Beatles themselves shows no wear ring. The colors and dark and rich. There is some minor scuffing at the very bottom (where there always is) but very minor. The backside of the cover is also quite lovely and is a clean white with maybe just a couple of age spots.The V in Ringo's turtleneck is clear and distinct underneath, although difficult to see in my photo, it is there, as the experienced collector will see. I started collecting vinyl in 1970, and this "Butcher Cover" is one that someone will be proud to own. The vinyl itself is incredibly beautiful. Using a 100 watt bulb to grade by, the vinyl maintains its full sheen and is graded at near mint9/gem mint10. Both labels are gorgeous, showing no spindle wear, and still maintaining its dark, rich colors. They are graded at near mint9/gem mint10. No need to ever upgrade the vinyl. This comes with the original Capitol innersleeve which is crisp and clean. Once again, this is a stereo copy. There are several photos to view. Questions?? Please email me.
