READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP 1976 Help! RARE Straight Transfer Orange Capitol Label Consignment, NM EX!

Hard-to-find pressing of this orange Capitol issue.  The text layout is identical to the Apple issues from 1969 through 1975.  By Jan. 1, 1976 when the Apple contract had expired and the catalogue had reverted back to Capitol, new text layouts were in production, which is the familiar block letters and layout we all know and are bored with.

This copy has the Columbia concentric groove and Los Angeles plates.

Vinyl--- NM/EX.  Side 1 retains 99.5% original shine with maybe a faint hairline.  Side 2 has a visible light scuff that can’t be felt with the fingertip and a few more hairlines.  Very nice, solid copy.

Plates--- G23/H20.  Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.

Cover--- EX.  Cover is mostly white with just a little bit of wear. This is the mid-70’s construction, where the larger slick is the outer one folded over into the gatefold. The gatefold slick was glued down onto the outer slick, which creates the seam inside the gatefold, rather than it being on the front and back covers. Shortest-lived construction. The one after this one printed the graphics directly onto the cover. NO SPLIT SEAMS ANYWHERE.

Labels--- EX/EX.  Side 1 label has some sort of very light spotting that you can only see when tilted toward a light source.  See photo.  Side 2 label has a light spindle mark or two.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG+. On occasion, the Los Angeles plant issued discs with slate gray inners.  This copy has one of those.  These may have been provided to Columbia for packaging, or they may be Columbia inner sleeves.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A.

A very cool, very hard-to-find label variation, and a nice copy at that!

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
