READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles LP 1969 Revolver Record Club TOUGHEST Version 2 Green Label, EX!

Most collectors are aware that the Record Club labels were issued on both the black Capitol and Green Capitol labels.  Very few collectors know that there were at least two variations of the Green label, and on some titles, there were three.

Revolver had two.  This is the far more difficult variation to find for your collection.

*As opposed to the more common Green label variation, this one has thin block lettering font, whereas the common copy has thick block lettering.

*Secondly on the common labels, the album title is center-justified over the band name.  This copy has the title right-justified, so that the words, “Revolver” and “Beatles” are aligned at the end of the words with a gap over the word, “The” in the band name.  See compere photos.

*Thirdly, the word, “STEREO” on the common labels are loosely spaced, whereas the letters on this copy are tightly spaced.

*I have only verified 3 or 4 titles with this font variation on Record Club issues.  Among them are “Meet the Beatles” and “Yesterday…and Today.”

Vinyl--- EX/EX.  Greater than 95% original shine per side.  Some light dulling of the grooves, one or maybe two extremely light angel hairs over the entire platter.

Plates--- No Capitol plate numbers.  Revolver was pressed by Decca Records, therefore it has machine-stamped matrices.  Catalogue number in the dead wax, as well as on the labels, carry the extra numeral “8.”

Cover--- EX.  Highly unusual! 

Collectors well know that Record Club covers were constructed from what amounts to recycled newspaper.  Cardboard on these covers split just from talking too loudly.

Record Club covers have the three diagonal stripes on the top left corner of the front, and the back right corner on the top.   They also include the extra numeral “8” on the spine and top right corner of the back cover.  All that is present on this cover.

This cover is beautiful.  Slightly dulled, but not yellowed or browned in the least.  Bottom seam by the spine has a ding.  Top and bottom corners of the mouth have very weak beginnings of tiny splits.

Please take good care of this cover.  Record Club covers in this condition are few and very far between!

Labels--- EX/NM.  With the exception of one light spindle mark on side 1, these labels look brand new!

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX.  Generic white inner sleeve with no die-cut hole for the labels to show is present.  Light wrinkles.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)
