READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning. I can’t test-play at the minute. Please don’t bid if this is a problem for you.
So with that said…
Beatles LP 1964 Beatles ’65 First Pressing Strange Little Label Error, Later Cover, EX Vinyl!
The cover is in shrink with the appropriate price sticker, but the RIAA is 12. I’m a collector of label errors, which is why I bought this copy. I have a suspicion that the previous seller had slipped the shrinkwrap onto this cover, so buy it for the LP’s stunning condition and the error. Still a very cool piece, and an absolute keeper LP!
Vinyl--- EX/EX. 95% original gloss, but both sides have just a few very light lines. Tilt toward a light source to see them.
Plates--- A3/W3. Machine-stamped triangle with the letters, “IAM” inside it makes this copy pressed by Scranton.
Cover--- VG+. Some shrink is missing on the back, some foxing and dirtwear. All seams and spine are muscular-strong, NO SPLITS.
Breathe Holes--- There is one breathe hole at the bottom front cover, just below George’s left elbow in the first picture.
Labels--- EX/EX. Only very slight amount of very slight spindle marks.
**Side 2 label has a beautiful little defect in the colorband to the right of the playhole. Blue and green share the colorband in equal parts, and slightly further up, white and yellow do the same thing in less than equal parts.
Capitol Inner Sleeve--- VG++. Original burnt orange inner sleeve is present. Apart from a very small ¼-inch bottom center seam split and a ding at the top edge, this inner sleeve is NM.
A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.
RIAA: 12.
If you find (or own) a supernice cover with an RIAA of 3, you will have yourself your keeper. Vinyl is gorgeous!
As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up. Thanks!)
Note: All LP’s ship outside of their album covers in order not to damage the covers during shipment.
CAUTION! There has been a startling increase in bidders canceling their bids. A word to the wise, I have started blocking any and all bidders who retract their bids regardless of the reason.
Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!
(Please note: Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized. The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle. Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix? Thanks!)
