Description

In this auction is a RARE ONE, for sure!

·       “INTRODUCING THE BEATLES” LP by The Beatles

·       This is Vee Jay Records VJLP 1062.

·       It was released beginning February, 1964.

·       This is Version 2 of this LP with column back cover that includes the cuts “Ask Me Why” and “Please Please Me” which replaced “Love Me Do” and “P.S. I Love You” which are on Version 1 of this LP.

·       HOWEVER, the record in this auction has MISMATCHED LABELS: The Side 1 Label has the Vee Jay Oval Logo, but the Side 2 Label has the Vee Jay Brackets Logo!!!

·       I have seen and had Vee Jay 45RPM records with mismatched oval logo and brackets logo on the labels (specifically VJ-581 with “Please Please Me” and “From Me To You”), but I have seen mismatched labels on this VJ LP ONLY ONE OTHER TIME before this one (and believe me, after almost 40 years of collecting Beatles vinyl, I’ve seen A LOT of copies of the “Introducing The Beatles” VJ LP!)

·       BOTH COVER and VINYL are ABSOLUTELY AUTHENTIC!  So you can bid with confidence that you are receiving the real deal and not a counterfeit.

·       The error most likely occurred when Vee Jay Records was transitioning from its Oval Logo to its Brackets Logo in 1964.

·       These Vee Jay error label records RARELY come available for auction or purchase. They are definitely “few and far between”.

·       The VINYL is in WEAK VG to VG MINUS CONDITION. There are a number of light hairlines/scratches/scuffs on both sides. None are “feel-able” on the brackets label side (Side II). The oval label side (Side I) also has a number of hairlines/scratches/scuffs, and 2-3 of the scratches are “feel-able”, so there will be some audio distraction (pops) during play. The vinyl (both sides) still has lots of gloss! (While the vinyl is in lower graded condition, the value is in the RARE and UNCOMMON MISMATCHED LABELS.)

·       The MISMATCHED LABELS are NICE and CLEAN with virtually NO WEAR at all. There is NO WEAR around the spindle hole. (Label wear on VJ labels is typically on the color-band and/or around the spindle hole, but not on this one!)

·       The COVER is in NICE VG+ CONDITION with NO TEARS and NO SEAM SPLITS. The seams and spine are nice and strong with NO cracking and NO flaking. The front cover slick is quite clean and nice with practically no wear. There is very light wear on the corners and a couple of very tiny corner pushes. The white rear-cover slick with black printing has light wear and a small diagonal mark in black ink to the right of the VJ logo.

The mismatched Vee Jay labels make this vinyl a real collector’s item, for sure! It’s definitely a RARE and “MUST HAVE” RECORD for any BEATLES’ VINYL COLLECTION!
