Beatles Help Rarest Capitol Mono JAX Label Variation Only 3 Have Surfaced 2386

Offered is "Help!" by The Beatles. Capitol Mono  MAS-2386.

This is without doubt the rarest known Capitol MONO issue for this title!!

Just 3 of these examples have surfaced in the last 47 to 48 years!

This is a 1967/1968 MONO issue manufactured in the Capitol L.A (*) plant. But, what makes this such a scarce Beatles LP collectible are the labels. These are Jacksonville MONO labels that you just will not find anywhere on any MONO copies of "Help!"!!

***By 1968 most American record companies had ceased issuing MONO records in favor of the increasingly popular Stereo variety, making a 1968 MONO issue rare indeed.***

The reason the JAX labels are on these L.A. copies is still a mystery but the fact that MONO JAX labels ARE found on this very late MONO issue is what makes this example so rare.

What's more!!, The record is housed in a reconditioned Stereo cover that has been modified to contain MONO copies.

The catalog letters and numbers (MAS-2386) are printed at the top of the spine where you would ordinarily find Stereo catalog numbers. Capitol simply removed the S from SMAS to create the MAS Mono cover so they could house MONO records for shipment to distributors. Also, if you look at the back of this cover you will see extra space at the very top. This is another indication of a reconditioned Stereo cover made to house MONO records. And last but certainly not least, there is a separate slick affixed to the front cover. You will have a hard time finding these rare reconditioned examples.

The reasons for the rare JAX labels are on an L.A. made record and that same record is housed in a reconditioned Stereo to MONO cover are still pretty much a mystery.

Mystery or not, the fact remains that this record and cover combination are without doubt the rarest ever seen for the Capitol "Help!" LP!!

*****If you have any further questions about this unique album I will be more than happy to answer them using all the information I have compiled.*****
