In this auction are 2 George Martin and his Orchestra records of the same title. George Martin was the Beatles’ music director at EMI/Parlophone and was also a major influence on their music production. One is a PROMO COPY and the other is a STOCK COPY.
Here are the details about the 2 record in this auction:
Record #1:
· “RINGO’S THEME (THIS BOY)” b/w “AND I LOVE HER” by George Martin & His Orchestra
· This is United Artists Records UA 745.
· The 2 cuts on this single, as the label states, were: From the Original Motion Picture Soundtrack of the Beatles’ “A Hard Day’s Night” (Lennon-McCartney)
· This is a WHITE LABEL PROMO 45 RPM RECORD.
· The record was issued in late June or early July, 1964.
· This is a 7-INCH PROMO RECORD issued by United Artists Records. There were 3 different white label promo issues of this record by United Artists. This is the issue that has block print with the artist shown as “GEORGE MARTIN & HIS ORCH”.
· As you may know, PROMOTIONAL RECORDS such as the one in this auction were issued in very limited quantities and only made available for promotional purposes to DJs at Radio Stations for on-air play or for juke box play. They were NOT available to the general public, so they are VERY desirable due to their limited distributions and rarity (limited quantities).
· The VINYL is in VG CONDITION.
· PROMO LABELS are white with slight indications on each where a sticker was.

· This is United Artists Records UA 745.

· This is a 7-INCH STOCK COPY PRESSING sold to the public with black labels and silver print issued by United Artists Records. There were 3 different label issues of this record by United Artists. This is the issue that has block print with the artist shown as “GEORGE MARTIN & HIS ORCH.”
· The record was issued in late June or early July, 1964.
· The VINYL is in VG CONDITION.
· STOCK LABELS show moderate wear.
