Description

THE BEATLES - 'BEATLES FOR SALE'

This 1968 2nd pressing of their 1964 album features misprints not just on one, but BOTH labels.

The labels are the standard black & yellow Parlophone type with the catalogue numbers PCS 3062

The side 1 label misspells the track 'I'm A Loser' as 'I'm A Losser'.

The side 2 label adds an extra 'S' in the publishing credit for 'Eight Days' A Week' so it reads 'Northern Ssongs..'

Both errors are now well-known to collectors but it is very rare to find both on one disc.

Matrix numbers: YEX 142-1 & YEX 143-1

Stamper codes: 4/MO & 1,7/OM

Vinyl weight: 143g

Housed in an outer laminated stereo gatefold cover, complete with original red & white EMI advertising inner-sleeve.

CONDITION

Labels: NEAR MINT

Both are clean & bright with just a handful of of faint spindle trails around each unworn centre hole.

Disc: EXCELLENT -

Perfectly clean playing surfaces which retain all of their deep-gloss factory finish. Side 1 is immaculate apart from a single 1cm surface mark on side 1 which produces a few clicks at the end of 'No Reply' and into the start of 'I'm A Loser'. Side 2 has a similar mark which causes a few ticks on the introduction of 'Eight Days A Week'. There is a also a light turntable scuff which does not affect play. On side 2 there is a tiny pitted groove on 'What You're Doing' which caused our stylus to stick in that groove. Despite these minor faults this is a nice sounding disc with great sound quality and that quality and breath of life missing from their other early stereo albums.

Cover: EXCELLENT -

A respectable example of this ultra-fragile cover which bears light storage & handling wear and no major faults. The front leaf is clean & glossy with slight shelfwear along its lower edge and a couple of thumbnail wrinkles towards the right edge, together with a small bend in the lower right corner.  Both panels inside are clean and unmarked and the rear panel is richly coloured & glossy bearing only a faint disc impression from storage. There is a 1cm tear to the upper part of the hinge but the spine itself is uncrushed & fully worded and all seams are smooth & unstressed.

Inner-sleeve: NEAR MINT
