This outstanding UK 1st MONO pressing dates from initial December 1964 release on the black & yellow Parlophone label: PMC 1240
Both labels bear the 'Sold in UK...' text with 'The Parlophone Co...' worded rims
Matrix numbers: XEX 503-3N & XEX 504-4N
Stamper codes: 4/AAL & 1/AAG
Disc weight: 139g
Housed in an outer laminated, inner-flipback gatefold cover with an outline front 'mono' indicator
This copy comes with an original plastic outer cover from Brian Epstein's 'NEMS' record store in Liverpool
Complete with its original rice-paper lined 'Use Emitex'..' inner-sleeve

A pristine pair with just two faint spindle trails around the side 2 label. The side 1 label is completely unmarked & flawless.
Visual: EXCELLENT +
Pristine playing surfaces retain a 'factory-fresh' deep-gloss shine and appear virtually flawless in strong daylight. Closer examination beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals two light turntable scuffs on track 1 on side 2, and a 2mm scratch on the run-in which just goes into the 1st track. However, apart from that and some harmless inner-sleeve removal marks, there really is little to fault on this fine disc.
Sound Quality: EXCELLENT +
This exceptional sounding copy had clearly been barely played. All tracks play without any trace of groove/playwear or any background crackle or interference. In fact, the only factor preventing a higher grade is a few light clicks heard on the faded-in introduction to 'Eight Days A Week', due to the aforementioned mark. Despite that minor distraction, it would be hard to find a better sounding early mono pressing.

A spectacular example of this incredibly fragile cover which looks like it left the shops yesterday, let alone nearly 50 years ago
The delicate front leaf lies flat & retains a superb high-gloss laminate with the slightest touch of storage, but no 'thumbnails' or creases
There is no curling or wear to any of the corners or damage to the exposed edges
The inside of the gatefold is totally unworn and remains clean & black where it should be on both sides
Both ends of the delicate central hinge are fully intact and unsplit
The rear panel is as glossy as the front and free from any ringwear or creasing
All seams of the rear pocket are smooth & unstressed
There are two small wrinkles mid-way down the spine, but it is clean and fully worded
Inner-sleeve: EXCELLENT +
Clean & unyellowed with a faint vertical bend but no writing, tears or seam splits.
