THE BEATLES - 'CRY FOR A SHADOW'/'WHY'
UK 1964 1st PRESSING 45
This 1st UK pressing of their 1961 recording dates from its 1st UK release in February 1964, and is on the orange with gold stars Polydor label: NH 52275
'Cry For a Shadow' is credited to 'The Beatles' whilst side 2 is credited to 'Tony Sheridan with The Beatles'.
Matrix numbers: NH 52275 A=1 & NH 52275 B 1
This disc is housed within its original Polydor company cover.
CONDITION
Labels: EXCELLENT +
A super set with just a small collection of spindle marks around the 'Why' label centre hole and one or two faint ones on the other.
Visual: EXCELLENT
Extremely clean, glossy and bright playing surfaces which are free from any surface marks or scratches when viewed in strong daylight. Careful inspection beneath my powerful halogen desk lamp reveals only some harmless wispy marks consistent with the small amount of careful play this copy has received.
Play: 1. VERY GOOD + 2. VERY GOOD
This great sounding 45 has not been overplayed and retains an outstanding clean and powerful sound. A touch of light background noise is present on the run-ins and the unaccompanied guitar strums at the start and during the song but there are no clicks, pops or indeed anything else to spoil the enjoyment of this great track. The slower song on the 'B' side has some more noticeable background but again, no major faults.

Bright & vibrant but with a price '2/6' written in bold marker pen on one side a some wear to the upper edge. All seams are unstressed & unsplit.
