  The box has fading around the edges, shows it's age a little, but there are no rips - as can be seen in photos. The White Album cover has a few dull smudge marks on the front as can be seen in close-up photo below. All the other album covers are in excellent condition.

1) The 1978 Blue Box White Album contained the 4 Beatles photos on one sheet of thin paper, I am including 4 separate Beatles photos on thick paper, they are from a 1960's or 1970's era White Album.

2) Sgt Pepper cutouts from a 1960's Sgt Pepper Album. See photo below - the one on the right is from the Blue Box and is in excellent condition. The one on the left is the 1960's cutout sheet, it has brighter colors and is a bit sturdier.

3) Magical Mystery Tour & Hey Jude Albums, in very good condition.

STORY:
In the first week of November 1978, EMI Records announced plans for a "Beatles Gift Box" to be issued simultaneously in England and America. The package would consist of the Beatles' original twelve British studio albums plus an additional record, Beatles Rarities , made up of the singles that hadn't yet been included on their LPs. The thirteen discs, plus a composite poster of the group, would come encased in a durable textured blue cardboard box. The American set, titled The Beatles Collection , was delivered to record stores in mid-December 1978, just in time for Christmas. This release marked the first time Capitol Records had ever marketed the Beatles' recordings in their original British formats. The package was issued in a numbered, limited edition of 3,000 copies and sold out immediately.

  The English version did not reach the shops until January 1979 due to problems at EMI's pressing plants . It was also not released in a limited quantity. It is this, non-limited edition box set that is most commonly sold here on eBay.

Back in 1978, the suggested list price for the U.S. collection was $132.98, making it the most expensive commercial Beatles item up to that time. (The British package carried a slightly cheaper price tag and was subsequently exported to America where it sold for as little as $70.)

The box set contains a total of 13 LPs U.K. pressings of all 12 original British studio releases plus "Rarities": a bonus LP with poster. Each of the twelve original releases is housed in a beautiful, high gloss, Garrod and Lofthouse front laminated sleeve. *Plus added bonus items (extra White Album photos and Sgt Peppers cutouts), Magical Mystery Tour and Hey Jude albums.
