Description

This is the authentic Beatles Butcher Cover, 1st state mint in shrink (not peeled). I am selling this on behalf of the family of a former Capitol Record Company Manager. This is just the cover. The album is not included. The cover is in mint shape, still in the original shrink wrap. The cover has had little exposure to light for 25 years so there is no browning. The record number is T2553. There is a 3 to the left of the RIAA number on the back. Included with the cover is a letter and a memo, the letter from and the memo to the manager. The letter is less significant, congratulating the manager and his people for a successful release of the first Beatles album. It just adds substantiation to the manager’s authenticity, showing that it is from Stanley M. Gortikov, then Vice President and General Managers of Capitol Records Distributing Corp. The letter cc's Alan Livingston and Stephen Strohman. The second document is the most significant. It is a memo from the manager to R.L. Howe in the Office of the National Distribution Manager detailing the destruction of over 50,000 Butcher covers at the local dump. The name of the manager has been hidden on both documents for privacy purposes. You will receive a embossed copy of both documents. You will also receive a 4 page write-up from the manager giving other remarkable details about the Butcher cover's history at Capitol. This is an awesome item for any true collector. Please email with questions.
