PARLOGRAM AUCTIONS presents...

THE BEATLES & OTHERS

This ultra-rare 1-sided 12" EMI test-pressing of the BBC transcription service radio show 'Top of the Pops' dates from 16th May 1966.

Top of the Pops was weekly a 1-hour radio music program hosted by Brian Matthew featuring selections from recording sessions at BBC studios for syndication/export outside the UK only by the top pop acts of the day. Many recordings on these discs remain officially unavailable today.

This disc features the second half of show #80, broadcast in June 1966, and includes live, in-the-studio performances, all introduced by DJ Brian Matthew:

Disc Programme

Small Faces - 'E to D'.

The Mindbenders - Interview & 'Can't Live Without You'.

Paul & Barry Ryan - 'Mama, Keep Your Big Mouth Shut'.

The Rockin' Berries - 'California Girls' (Beach Boys cover).

Small Faces - 'One Night Stand'

The Mindbenders - 'All Night Worker'.

The Beatles - Interview (approx. 4 minutes) with Brian Matthew with all members present.  They discuss, amongst other things, their forthcoming U.S. tour and forthcoming album (the as yet un-named, 'Revolver').

Machine stamped matrices:

Side 1: 12FPM 116561B & BBC

Side 2: LPFB 2 (plays a continuous test signal)

A 'KT' purchase tax code is present in the centre of the playing side label.

The disc is housed in its original factory sleeve with the matrix number written on one side along with the date stamp '27 Sept 1966'.
