Description
It was 60 years ago that the Beatles made national fame and within a year had conquered the World. It was no smooth ride to fame as they were rejected by Decca record saying that “Guitar groups were on there way out.” When they hit the big time internationally the media slated them with quotes like “ Four mop heads from England, here today, gone tomorrow”.
Fast forward to 2023 and sales of over 600 million records and billions of streams they are without doubt the most influential pop act of all time. As the younger generations discover their music, the demand for Beatles memorabilia is high and top of the pop collectibles list.
The sale of 78’s ceased in the U.K. in 1960 however a handful of countries continued a little longer. Early Beatle releases have been discovered mainly in India and the Philippines. These records are extremely rare and hard to find. This is an original 78 Philippines release.
Side A is the popular “All my loving.” The surface is VG+ with light scratches and some scuffs and plays well. There is a minuscule chip ( see photo) on outer rim which does not affect the playing or auto loading whatsoever.
Side B is “Don’t bother me” which is the first George Harrison composition released by the group. The surface would be excellent + if not for a scratch (see photo)across the top of the disc.
Despite this it plays perfectly well with no interference or jumps.
The labels did suffer some water damage however have been professionally restored as per photos.
All in all a great copy of an original Beatles 78 which rarely comes up in auction. There are some “buy it now” available at a cost!
Low starting price and a fantastic investment!
