Beatles 45 PS Nowhere Man with 2 First Pressing Label Variations

I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

For auction this week are several Beatles picture sleeves which feature two different first pressing 45 label variations.  The second variation discussed will always be the harder one to find.

Nowhere Man/ What Goes On

Sleeve:  STRONG, NICE VG+.  Both sides have fresh colors and minimal wrinkles and finger divots.  Light record outdent and ringwear, not bad at all.  Straight-cut east coast sleeve.

Lennon/ McCartney Songwriting Credit on the B-Side.

Vinyl:  EXCELLENT/ NM.  Both sides look so very close to never having been played!

Labels:  NM/ NM.  Full 1966 gloss.

Plates:  F5/ G8.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters “IAM” inside make this a Scranton pressing.

Starkey Songwriting Credit Added to the B-Side.

As with the “Maclen Music, Inc.” credit on the “A Hard Day’s Night” label, the “Starkey” addition to the song’s writing credits was added very late in the first run pressings, probably going into 1967.

The ratio of the Starkey labels to the Lennon/McCartney labels is very wide.  You can find these, but with a lot of patience and time.

Vinyl:  VG+/ EXCELLENT.  The only thing stopping the Side one vinyl from an Excellent grading is one long, light scuff and a few angel hairs.  Side two vinyl looks beautiful, regardless of it not being NM.  VERY nice-looking copy, maybe even your keeper.  (It was mine for a decade.)

Labels:  NM/ NM.  Full 1966/1967 gloss.

Plates:  G6/ F3.  Machine-stamped triangle with the letters “IAM” inside make this a Scranton pressing.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
