Beatles 45 1996 Real Love MISSTRUCK with Picture Sleeve

I can’t test-play vinyl at the minute, so with that said…

I don’t know what the story is with these two 45’s from Anthology that are for auction this week, however, I’m happy to quickly tell my story of them

In 1995 and 1996, I had an acquaintance DJ at our local radio station by the name of Donald Emerick.  On the air, he used to go by Dynamic Don Emerick.  I used to slip him cassettes of rare (shall we say) Beatles recordings to play on his Sunday “Breakfast with The Beatles” show.  He was always afraid to play them, for fear that the FCC was tuning in.

The first time he played “Free as a Bird,” I thought he was playing one of my gifted recordings, but then I realized that this was a finished version.  Same thing happened with “Real Love.”

Upon his station receiving that second record, he complained to me how annoying it was that they chopped the center information out of the record label.  When I asked to see them, I was astonished that he was right.  Never saw these before.

I made an offer to him that I would trade them for brand new stock copies that I had purchased, which he happily accepted.  And so did I.

I don’t pretend to know anything about these, but I can guess if you want.  Never having seen other copies, it might be possible that the first few records stamped out were accidentally cut with large 45 playholes when they were supposed to have the smaller ones that we all know and love, and rather than trashing them, could they have been sent as promos?

That’s a starting point theory.  Anyone out there have copies, or are these the only ones?

Sleeve:  Nice VG+.  Lots of new gloss, just a wrinkle or two, both sides.  NO SEAM SPLITS.

A generic white sleeve will be provided to protect your company sleeve during shipping.

Vinyl: EX/VG+.  You know how DJ’s treat their vinyl, right?  Side 1 looks nearly NM, with the exceptions of a few light marks that you can’t feel.  Side 2 has 4 or so, soft, light lines, but the rest shines new.

NOTE:  Don’t let the photo of the light lines scare you!  I couldn’t get them to adequately show up, so I really had to sun-splash them, and then brighten the photo.

My two choices were posting a photo that showed nothing at all, or one that looks like cat claws when they’re really light.  So I chose to show them.

Labels: VG+.  Both labels show some flaking off white.  These areas were probably due to the manufacturing process.

Plates: G1/ G2.  “Mastered by Capitol” stamp on both sides.  “Little Logan” hand-etched in Side 1 dead wax.

Definitely a rare error for those of us who collect them!  Try and find another.  I certainly couldn’t.

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

Note:  All 45’s ship outside of their sleeves in order not to damage the sleeve during shipment. Generic plain, white sleeves and Mylar provided.

Please don’t bid unless you’re willing to honor your amount, okay? Thanks!

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
