Description

This is a genuine original Beatles Christmas record from 1963, the first one the group mailed out to their fan club members. The Christmas records became a tradition and the Fab Four sent one out every year through 1969, the last year before the group broke up. This one, the '63 record, was issued only to British fan club members. The Beatles hadn't yet hit it big in the States, though that would soon happen, so the first Christmas record released in both Britain and the U.S. was in 1964. Presumably, American fans didn't get to hear the '63 recording till 1970 when the Christmas Album, a collection of all seven singles, was released by Apple. In the recording, the group wishes their fans a happy holiday season and catches everyone up on their latest activities in 1963 and what's coming in 1964. The record here is enclosed in a folder that also serves as a newsletter. The record is a flexidisc, made of flexible vinyl. The record number is LYN 492 and is on the Lyntone label. Printed on the label is the statement that the Beatles record exclusively for Parlophone Records. This record, unlike most singles, plays at 33 and a third RPMs. Both the record and its sleeve/newsletter are in fine condition, a small part of my personal Beatles collection.
