READ THIS! These records are NOT sold for perfect sound quality. They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute. Beatles 1965 LP Help! SCARCE First Pressing LA 1 Line Above Playhole, ERROR!

When I first bought this copy, I thought that the error was that there was no title of the album on the Side 1 label.  Label is misstruck, having the text slid upward when pressed, which convincingly hides the album’s title inside the Capitol dome.

Looking at Perry Cox’ listing in his latest price guide, you can see that this pressing with the one title above the playhole is so very scarce to begin with.  Add the layer of the cool little error, and you have an even harder collectible!

Vinyl--- VG/VG.  Both sides have a generous amount of light scratches only.  None can be felt with the fingertip on either side.  Plays with some surface noise.

Plates--- B12/A11.  These are definitely first-run plates.  Machine-stamped asterisk in the dead wax makes this copy pressed in Los Angeles.

Cover--- VG.  Structurally solid cover.  Front cover has some rippling at the bottom slick.  Front and back covers have some foxing.  Top and bottom seams have some shelfwear, but no missing slick.  NO SPLIT SEAMS.

Gatefold--- VG.  Moderate to heavy foxing, particularly on the right panel, but NO CENTER SPLITS.

Labels--- NM/NM.  Fortunately, that’s the part that counts.  Labels look brand new, NO SPINDLE MARKS.

Capitol Inner Sleeve--- EX.  Original olive green Capitol inner sleeve is present.  Has the west coast thumb tab.  Some wrinkling, not much.  Bright west coast colors, NO SEAM SPLITS.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original Capitol inner sleeve en route.

RIAA: N/A

As these records have been in storage for many years, they will play back with crackling and tics, however; a good moisturizing and cleaning with either D4 Discwasher or a VPI machine always clears them up.  Thanks!)

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
